Chalkboard or Mirror?
I found this really cool metal piece at a garage sale, actually I found two of them. I believe they were originally the sides of an old soda machine, you know the old vintage ones that you slide back the top glass door and reach into and grab an ice cold bottled soda.
I painted the red a lovely aqua color and when I wax it the color is going to pop.
I need your help deciding on turning into a mirror or a chalkboard, what would you do?

I found it looking like this
When it’s finished, I’ll show you a close up so you can see the detail.
So chalkboard or mirror??
Chalkboard.
ReplyDeletei love it. it would look great in a kitchen as a chalk board as it used to be a soda machine. what a great find i love the colour xxx
ReplyDeletechalkboard!!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYep! I'm going with chalkboard too! WHAT a great find! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and unique find. I would have to say chalkboard. Can't wait to see the finished project.
ReplyDeleteOh, squeals of delight! It's perfect for either!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love this. : )
Tina
I'd leave it exactly as is! It's such a cool piece of history.
ReplyDeleteJust sayin'
I'm going to go against the crowd and say mirror. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a great piece! I love what you've done with it.
Chalkboard...I LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteThis is SO much better painted blue!! LOVE IT woman!!!
ReplyDeleteI'd hang it on the wall, center hooks in the open part and hang decorative, cute mittens/hats this winter...
ADORABLE piece!
Andrea
I'd vote for mirror but I love all things reflective!
ReplyDeletedid you buy them both? if so...one of each...a mirror AND a chalkboard. If you only purchased ONE...I'd say chalkboard! will be sooo cool!
ReplyDeleteChalkboard, i think the black would look great with the color you painted it... cool find!
ReplyDeleteCindy
Definitely chalkboard... the black with the shade of blue you chose will be beautiful in any kitchen.

I say chalkboard too!
ReplyDeleteIf it were me, and I wasn't already set on having either a chalkboard or a mirror, I would atach some chicken wire to the open part and use it as a memo thing, then you can attach a chalkboard piece and a mirror
ReplyDeleteI like both but lean toward chalkboard for the contrast between the black and the aqua : )
ReplyDeleteI'd say chalkboard. I think their would be something funny about looking into a mirror that says 'ice cold' ;) lol

Capers of the vintage vixens
definitely chalkboard and is the body steel--you could add some magnets
ReplyDeletechalkboard seems more in tune with the rest of the piece.
ReplyDeleteThose are darn cute! I vote chalkboard. It would make a great message center. You could use magnets to attach whatever to the metal.
ReplyDeleteDanielle
I think chalkboard would be gorgeous
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a chalkboard!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Love the colour you chose as well. I would definitely say chalkboard....I am green, oh, maybe that should be turqouise with envy....
ReplyDeletePeggy
Mirror but antiqued to look old.
ReplyDeleteThat's my opinion.
If you have two, why not one of each? That way you don't have to decide.
ReplyDeleteI'd say it depends on where you plan to use it. In a kitchen I'd do a chalkboard. In a bath or hallway, mirror. You could even go a little more "modern" and mount a white board instead of a blackboard. Or insert a metal panel and then use magnets to attach little notes. Fun accessory in an area where you need to keep the family goings-on.
ReplyDeleteGhostly mirror with part of the finish worn away.....
ReplyDeleteLOve it....I vote chalkboard.....
ReplyDeleteChalkboard
ReplyDeleteLove the aqua color! I vote for chalkboard.
ReplyDeleteHow Cool! Either would be great...
ReplyDeleteOh my....that color...perfect! Mirror! Janna
ReplyDeletedid you say you had two? both! My vote is chalboard if you only have the one...wow, gorgeous! It would be great on it's own too.
ReplyDeleteVERY COOL FIND!! I vote for chalkboard! Can't wait to see it finished!!
ReplyDeleteI vote chalkboard!
ReplyDeleteI love this vintage piece and the color that you painted it. I would go with the chalkboard, as I think the black would look lovely against the blue. Can't wait to see what you do with it.
ReplyDeletechalkboard. Maybe in a funky design or color???
ReplyDeleteOoohhh...definitely a chalkboard! What an awesome find!!
