Hanging Flower Basket Light

I love the look of industrial lighting but don't generally love the price tag. I found a neat one at a local store I love, but couldn't afford it.
So I thought I would make one for my new kitchen.
I found an inexpensive metal flower basket for under 10.00 and a light kit from Lowes for under 20.00.

The light kit was a darker brown tone and the basket was black, I knew I wanted it to look like rusted metal, so I painted both of them using craft paint in a rust tone. Once I got the look I wanted, I let it dry and sprayed on a matte finish varnish.
For under $30.00 I have a unique light, and I just love it over my breakfast table.
That is fabulous!!! I just love that you saw the flower basket and thought... that could be a light! I really love it...Theresa xoxo

Ingenious idea! I absolutely love it and might just have to find a place in my home to make one too. Thanks for the tutorial:) I love that shade of blue on the chair, what paint color is it?
ReplyDeleteThat space is so cute. It looks like something out of Home and Garden or Flea Market Style Magazine! Love the lamp. Very cute.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea! I LOVE LOVE LOVE your kitchen table!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and am delighted! I have a set of 5 vintage oak chairs in "your" signature decorating color that are naturally crackled. I LOVE them but have had a hard time finding pieces in that color to spread around my house. I have a very open floor plan which makes it difficult. Thanks for the beautiful inspirations!
ReplyDeleteLove the lamp, but what I'm really oogling is the large letters spelling EAT in the back ground. Do tell where you found them!
