SYTYCD Week 9- Garden Party
This week was definitely the hardest for me, while I love to decorate, I'm not a collector of tableware. I do collect vintage floral plates that are used more for decorating rather than tableware. I'm personally more interested in the food than the presentation of the table. So I really was challenged to come up with something appealing.
Since I live in sunny Florida, I knew I had to take it outdoors, and with the temperatures already in the mid 80's it was absolutely perfect to be outside.
I came across these wonderful old chippy wicker chairs at a garage sale about a month ago. I believe that I have a chair addiction....
Since hydrangea's are one of my favorite flowers, I just had put them to use.
Being eclectic to me is so much more appealing than being matchy, matchy, especially in tableware.
For the napkins rings I just tied turquoise ribbon around vintage napkins. Sometimes simple things are best.
These beautiful double pink knockout roses came out of my garden and since I don't believe in using pesticides in my yard, it was definitely safe to use them as a garnish for the top of the cupcakes.
I made cucumber sandwiches, fruit, yummy cupcakes, coconut cookies and pink lemonade.
The birds were singing and the weather was picture perfect, it was simply wonderful to be dining with nature.

Visiting from Funky Junk - She had such wonderful things to say. As I can see they are well deserved. Love your tablescape.
ReplyDeleteYou'd never know that was hard for you! Everything is just gorgeous, and won my vote. My blog is no longer Digi Scribbles. I messed it up changing the HTML, thinking I was on my practice blog! It was easier to start over, so I'm now Cottage Palette. You have one of the most inspiring blogs online, just love it here!! ♥

ReplyDeleteI wish that the SYTYCD site had made a bit more of a "to do" for you than what is currently posted. I mean -- you ALL worked hard and did such a wonderful job. Where are their fireworks? Balloons? I'm hoping that it will still be forthcoming for you!
CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!
I always see great plates, tea cups, and glassware at thrift stores but I never buy them. I always think what I'm I going to do with this stuff. But now I know I can throw a cute tea party for my friends and the items can be mis matched as long as there pretty. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteYou did an amazing garden party setting.
