SYTYCD Week 2-Monogram Stand
With this week’s category being catalog inspired, I couldn't resist doing an anthropologie inspired item.
We were to be inspired by something we might see in a particular catalog, I did not want to do a copycat version of one particular item, but I believe I could see a monogram stand like this in their store.

I love to repurpose things into something new, this is what the garage sale frame looked like when I bought it.
The black velvet fabric was in bad shape and it just didn't fit in my color scheme, but I thought I could change it up a bit. For the base, I glued a wood block onto a wood craft plaque and drilled a wood dowel into the center. I applied a cream color base coat followed by a blackish-brown color, then distressed it to look old.
For the frame I applied a base coat of the same cream color and aged it using a dark brown paint, the wiped off some of the paint to create more depth.
For the cursive letter "T" I used SHRINKY DINKS, then painted the letter to look like it was metal. For for a couple of bucks of materials, I have a custom Monogram "Anthropolgie" inspired stand.

That is so pretty, Trixie! I love how the frame turned out ~ I think the darker color hit all the right spots!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so great. I like that. I love the lamp too...and the wall color....and everything. Looks wonderful. Hey you really inspired me...I redid an inexpensive shelf w/ some turquoise scrapbook paper (the back of the shelves) and it turned out good. I'm happy with it. But I was so inpsired by your blog....lots of fun and good ideas. Come by for a visit if you get a chance. I love all the shutters you use....I happen to have a small collection...big smile. And I love your ideas with them. Hubby wants to know how many shutters I need! hahahaha
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

ReplyDeleteTrixie I found you this morning from a friend of mine Susan who has the blog Art of Mine.
ReplyDeleteLove your site and how creative you are.
I noticed you have done what I have been trying to do on my site for weeks now and can not figure out how to do so if it is not too much trouble can you tell me how to get a different font or look to the pages I have listed under my headboard. I love yours and would like to do something prettier with mind but can not for the life figure out how to change it.
Sorry to bother you with this.
