how do you get that amber color off? Any special cleaner? I bought a hanging lamp at a flea market with the idea that I was going to do this but I can't seem to get the red, already chipping paint off!

Did you seal the paint with anything before finishing or just let it dry?

It's lovely! There's so much fun to be had with old lamps. I have a couple of lamps my step-father had that have the painted insides. They're several decades old now and the paint is cracking. I never thought about doing anything about it, but your project has given me ideas. That's how it is though isn't it? One cool project seen creates a mind full of potential projects that could be. Thanks for telling how you did it. Love your custom color too!
