Finally, I can start sharing some before and afters with you.
Our beach cottage living space is narrow and long, so for furniture placement I decided to split it into 2 sitting areas, one for reading and relaxing and one for tv watching.
The before pictures of the sitting room area, which originally in the 1950's was the porch area.
I didn't like the built in cabinets for several reasons, 1) the doors dropped down which would make it difficult to use, 2) took up valuable floor space, 3) poorly made.
So we ripped them out and gained space to add seating.
I found these cute vintage rattan chairs on craigslist.
I spray painted them with Krylon Catalina Mist, and recovered the cushions.
I removed the vinyl blinds and replaced them with bamboo roman blinds.
The slipcover loveseat and rug is from Ikea, an estate sale trunk
along with vintage and handmade coastal inspired accents.
The pillow fabrics are some of my fabric designs available at Spoonflower.
The entire cottage had stained v-groove wood walls, some of the wood needed replacing
so rather than trying to match it I decided to paint it white.
It really lightens the rooms up and also adds that beachy vibe I was going for.
I'll be posting about the floors in a later post.
