I found a pair of lamps at Kirklands for under $70.00, the base had a nice dark brown finish and the shade has a linen look.
Once I got them home I liked how they looked, but knew I would probably want to change the base, but I didn’t want to just paint them.
I was thinking about a rust finish, so I painted on 2 thin coats of metal paint, using sophisticated finishes brand rusting set. The base paint, which has real metal in it, is a dark grey and has a slight texture to it.
Half way through I decided I didn’t want to rust them after all but I liked the dark grey base, so once completely dry, I brushed on Martha Stewart’s terra cotta finish in white, and then wiped off any excess to create the look I wanted.
