SYTYCD Week 1- Shabby Chic Inspired Clock

Wow, I can hardly believe it's finally here, I think we have all been on pins and needles, and talk about nervous!!!!!!

I'm so excited to be part of the first 10 SYTYCS

 For this weeks challenge "Accessory" I decided to make a clock that would fit into my living rooms shabby chic decor. I made the clock using a vintage ceramic ceiling medallion along with a porcelain floral plate.

I found the vintage ceramic ceiling medallion at a flea Market for $5.00 and the floral plate for .25 cents at an estate sale.

I drilled a hole into the plate using a ceramic drill bit, this is the first time I've ever drilled into ceramic/porcelain and I must say it was very easy. The important thing is to go slow so it doesn't break.

I then added a strong epoxy to glue the 2 pieces together and added a clock kit that I purchased for $4.99.

So for under $10.50, I have a lovely little clock that fits perfectly in my space.

Waterslide Decals

Some of you asked how I made my Paris print

 

so I thought I would share this great product with you.

Lazertran is a product made in the UK, they have many different types of products but the one I've tried and really like is the

waterslide decal for inkjet printers

All you do is print your image onto the decal paper using your inkjet printer, let the ink set and soak in water. The decal can be added to glass, wood, tile, canvas, etc.

 

The product isn't cheap but I've found the best price is here.

Road Trip!

I’m so excited, I’m headed to Mt.Dora, Florida this weekend for the Antiques Extravaganza.

I’ve never been before so I hope to find some goodies!!! It's a little less than a 4 hour drive so we're leaving at 4:00 in the morning (yuk!!) to get there around 8. Oh  the things we do to find  neat treasures and hopefully a good bargain.

Paris Print

This is my new Paris print that I've transferred onto an 8x10 artist canvas. I digitally altered and added graphics to a vintage ornament frame. I then aged and distressed it to look really old.

Plaster frames red0

I found these cute plaster frames at a garage sale for .50 cent each. I figured I could find someway to change them up. They each had ugly paper landscape scenes glued inside the frame.

I just removed the pictures, dry brushed a little cream paint onto the frames and added some burlap for the backing. I used  2 cameos I had leftover from a previous GS red0 project as seen here.  For the cameos, I painted the metal surround with  aqua paint.

 

They're going in my new bedroom

Valentines Heart

Draw a circle, not a heart, around the one you love because a heart can break but a circle goes on forever.

Knob Turned Finial

Once I was done transforming my lamp I realized it needed a funky finial to match it's new personality. I found this beautiful glass knob at Anthropologie a few weeks ago and I thought it was the perfect crowning touch.

All I had to do was remove the screw and epoxy the pieces onto the original plain finial that came with the lamp. I added a small glass bead on top where the screw head would normally be, and since it's made of glass it glows when the light is turned on.
