Sheet Curtains

Since I sew I hardly ever buy curtains from a store and my living room  was no exception. I found this sheet set on clearance at Target, being 100% cotton it was just what I was looking for. I can tell you that if I had more money if my life I would probably opt for more expensive things in my house, but since I don’t it forces me to think outside the box and always be on the lookout for bargains.
I knew I wanted  a gathered look at the top but not to full, I think I used a twin flat  sheet for each panel, a twin flat sheet is usually around 66 inches wide.
I used Wright’s pencil pleat tape  (like this) that I found at the fabric Store.  They were super easy to make and very inexpensive. I love that they add just a little pop of color around the windows.

My next curtain project will be in my bedroom where I plan to make burlap curtains using the same kind of shirring tape or maybe  smocking tape. Check back to see those.

Those are just gawgeous! Love 'em. I guess it must be a coincidence that I've seen three posts on the color turquoise today? Soo pretty.

I had sheets for curtains in college too!! But they weren't anything as nice as yours. But it was one of my earliest experiences with repurposing and recycling. Just love your creativity! :)

So pretty....I've never tried that shirring tape, but I've always wanted to. I need to make curtains to cover my closets (took off those nasty sliding things). Think I might give this treatment a try.

I'm adding the picture to my ::cottage crush:: feature on my sidebar :)

I love that idea! I had never heard of pleating tape, and being quite phobic with the sewing machine, this post is a dream come true!
