Living Room Re-do

I'm linking up to Layla's Favorites of 2009: Room Redo's over at the Lettered Cottage here.
This is our vintage inspired living room, the before pictures are what the living room looked like when we moved in, it’s a 1970’s brick ranch style home.

The house was rather plain, white walls and white trim, but it had good bones. It just needed some love and a little color. P1010273

Help! Help! I need Blogland to help me!

Can anyone please tell me what is going on, every time I have a post that has more than a few pictures the pictures stack on top of each other. When I hit the preview button it looks fine then when I post it the picture are stacked. The post I did this morning on the Etsy Seller looked fine when it was posted now when I view it this evening the pictures are stacked on each other. Has this happened to anyone before? How do you fix it?
Any help I could get would be great!

My Special Christmas Present

First I must say, how lucky am I that I have a wonderful sweet talented boyfriend, so lucky! He made this special gift for me for Christmas, it's a document portfolio and I just love it.

He said that he added the heart on the front because he loves me so much. Awe, how sweet is that.....

Garage Sale Find Redo

I found this cute thing at a garage sale. It was ok the way it was, not my colors and the fabric was a little tattered, I thought I could change it up a bit.

I painted the frame a light aqua color, added cream colored burlap and a vintage flower pin. Now it fits perfectly in my living room.

Beautiful Headboard Inspirations

We moved into our new old house around a year ago and I still have no idea how I want to decorate our bedroom. I have tons of ideas but can't seem to commit to just one. I know I want a different headboard than the one I used in my townhouse bedroom, although I love this headboard I just want a change.

Here are some lovely headboard pictures I found for inspiration, maybe one will inspire you as well.

Handmade Christmas Present

Stuck on what to get my bother and sister-in-law for Christmas, I decided I would make them something for their new home.

I knew I wanted to make a vintage looking sign but I also wanted a meaning attached to it. King is their last name and she's a great baker so Kings Bakery was born. The number on the sign is the date they got married, Ewing is her maiden name and Key West is the location where they tied the knot. It's gonna look great in their new kitchen, I hope they love it.

Who could resist a face like this???

Well I sure couldn't, this is Bailey, my little rescue puppy. I'm a huge animal person, I love cats and dogs all the same. I don't have any children although I've always wanted them; it just wasn't in the cards for me. While I already had 4 cats, I wanted a dog to add to my family. I was torn between getting an adult dog or puppy. My reasoning for an adult dog is they are usually harder to place but on the other hand I had to think about my cats and I was worried an adult dog possibly attacking them. I had my heart set on meeting an adult dog that I had found on Petfinders, I was told she seemed fine around cats, but just a few days before meeting her I got a call saying that they had found her original owner. Needless to say I was a little sad but happy that she was reunited with her family. Once again, back on Petfinders searching for a dog/puppy in need of a family, I found her. We had to drive 4 hours round trip to meet the cutie and she was worth every minute. Well Bailey will be 1 year old in a few weeks and I can't imagine my life without her. I was inspired to write this after reading a post from the Decorated House blog. Please check out her story and the organization

This time of the year we tend to think of people in need, but those furry little friends need our help as well, so please donate to your favorite pet charity/rescue center to help a animal in need.

Burlap Owl Ornaments w/pattern

My sister loves anything with owls on it, so I made her these cute little guys for her christmas tree. They are so fun and easy to make. For the body glue burlap, fabric or paper on poster board or sturdy cardboard, once dry cut the body out. For the face and wings you can use vintage book pages, scrapbook paper or even fabric. For the eyes I used scrapbook paper cut from a 1/2 inch circle punch then glued wood buttons on top. I had trouble posting the pattern allowing you to enlarge, but if you would like a copy please email me and I will be happy to send it to you. Hope you enjoy making these as much as I did.

I'm joining the Saturday Nite Special at
Funky Junk's Saturday Nite Special

"Antique" Sign

Boy do I love something for free, especially when it's going to be discarded and end up in a land fill somewhere. I picked up this unusal piece at a local discount furniture store, where it was once the carved piece attached to a china cabinet(similar to this one). Well somehow it lost it's way from it's buddy the china cabinet and ended up in the throw away pile. I kindly asked if I could have it, at that time not really having any idea what I could make from it. I thought possibly a really long coat rack, but I didn't have a need for a 5-6 foot coatrack. I've learned along the way that you may not know initially what on earth you'll do with it, but someday you will, and that someday came along. I thought it would make a neat old looking sign, so I cut the ends down to the size I wanted added some 1X6 pine boards, painted it, distressed it and now I proudly hang my free sign in my hallway.

Today is the Day

Today is the day, my first day in blogland. I'm so excited but I'll have to admit I'm a little intimidated with all this blog stuff. Is it me or is this computer stuff getting more complex? Oh well on to the fun stuff. I'll be joining the furniture post from one of my favorite blogs, Miss Mustard seed. Furniture Feature Fridays I unfortunately don't have a before picture, but it started out as a not so bad craigslist find. It was originally black and beige decorated with painted flowers on each drawer, I didn't hate the way it looked but I knew the colors wouldn't work in my house and the top was damaged. You will begin to see my favorite color is turquoise, and turquoise it had to be. I painted the middle drawer using a lazer cut scrapbook page as my stencil. The new and improved bombay chest fits perfectly in my entrance way.
